Summer is almost here, but why do we feel so guilty about resting our bodies?

Even though school is out, I’m still running these streets and what I mean by running these streets is me back on the gravy train dropping these kids off to their works sites and other activities they are involved in. By the time I get home I have to get dinner prepared, run errands, listen to everyone’s day, and the get ready to do this all over again. As I’ve shared in the last reel, I am doing summer school this year, so day involves data, data, data and following up with kids that aren’t working. It’s so many things and by the time weekend comes I’m drained. Speaking of the weekend, who makes brilliant plans and never follow through with them ? I feel so guilty because I would plan so many things, but yet I’d rather be in my bed resting and when I do rest, I feel absolutely horrible because now the work week is back and driving these kids back-and-forth is on replay for the next two months.

What are some things you can do to not feel as guilty when you do rest and know that it’s something you should be appreciative of when you do rest your body and mind?

Here are some gems:

Resting your body without the guilt

Mini breaks: Instead of forcing a massive break, start with 5–10 minutes of intentional stillness between tasks.

Limit social media scrolling: Constantly watching others “grind” or comparing your downtime to curated online lives triggers guilt. Step away from screens during your designated break. I know I’m guilty of this and then feel horrible because we have the same 24 hours but do we though!

Redefine rest: give yourself a power hour to rest no phone, tv or music turn off the to do list nd just listen to your own body and mind. Complete a puzzle or just sit outside and watch the birds and squirrels run around. Pour some wine and sing even if the time is brutal do it and let the stress of the day wind away.

Now you don’t have to feel so bad because you haven’t rotted the weekend in bed but you took some necessary moments for yourself and prioritize the importance of yourself first.

Will you try some gems? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to tell a friend to tell a friend they got a friend with the gems over here. Until next time and as always “Never negate the Nu-N-U”
