We know the good ole saying “April showers bring May flowers”. If that is the case is April leading towards a promising season ahead or do you still have a little work to do?
There is so much that has happened in the last few weeks that my head is spinning. At times, I feel a lot of anxiety and other times true joy —well let me elaborate. I was invited to a conference with the big wigs and on the last day of the conference I was ask to step into a lead position for next year. Now this is something I have been running away from for years and not that I’m afraid of fulfilling the job I just feel like a hypocrite for trying to stay in a position I knew no longer served me, and no matter how much I told myself administration wasn’t for me I was being held to a higher standard regardless of how much I fought it. The joy comes from, yes, someone seeing your worth, and letting my you just keep taking the backseat to life. My joy is that I’ve gained two more blessings in my world and I just wanna retire and spend all day with them. My son recently had twins and I’m truly overjoyed, but it’s his time to be a great parent and husband I know has been and will continue to be.
I’m closer to retirement, but not quite there yet. I thought about what I need to do to sashay my way to being at home and on my porch watching the commuters zoom by at 8 AM. I have been thinking about this position and how I want to stay humble, but to utilize my skills to help make a difference for our department. I work with a great group of ladies and we deserve to be happy at our jobs, so my mission is to make changes within my department while positively supporting my career for those who are working towards the same outcome.
So, what do yall think? Take the position and see where it goes or just ride my current position out until I retire.
In the meantime, here are some deets if you’re in a similar situation.
💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎💎One of the best to approaches to making decisions is to lead with the four C’s in mind:
Be curious- find out what the job entails make sure it is aligned to what you can successfully accomplish
communicate- ask questions pay increase, time demands, and flexibility.
collaborate-talk with others that have been promoted the pros and cons, benefits, have they grown, and is there a sense of community.
clarify-all points of view, take your time, pray for guidance, and listen to your heart.
