What makes you feel seen?

As we go through life we build safe spaces to make our needs, desires, and feelings are met. When they’re not met how do we express those emotions so that one is heard and understood. Feeling seen means being recognized and accepted for who you truly are, involving validation, understanding, and connection through actions like active listening, eye contact, acknowledging efforts, and showing empathy, leading to feelings of being real, safe, and less isolated. It’s about someone genuinely “showing up” and making you feel noticed and valued, not just present.

How well do you hold others accountable when they have not shown and or acknowledged what you’ve expressed?

Key Elements That Make Someone Feel Seen:

  • Active Listening & Presence: Giving undivided attention, making eye contact, and truly hearing what’s being said, not just waiting to speak.
  • Validation: Acknowledging someone’s feelings, efforts, or identity with phrases like, “I hear you,” or “I see how hard you worked on that”.
  • Recognition & Appreciation: Noticing small details, praising accomplishments, and expressing thanks in ways the other person receives love (e.g., their love language).
  • Authentic Connection: Feeling understood on a deeper level, like someone “gets” you without extensive explanation, fostering a sense of safety and belonging.
  • Inclusion & Representation: Seeing your identity, needs, or experiences reflected or acknowledged by others, notes Humantold
  • Respecting Boundaries: When others honor your limits, it shows they respect your authentic self, says a Forbes article

Why It Matters:

Feeling seen fulfills a fundamental human need for connection, reducing feelings of invisibility or neglect, and strengthens relationships, making people feel more grounded, joyful, and connected,

With the right mindset everything will work itself out!!!!
