Gearing up for the new year- Part deaux

Ok so how’d we do for Christmas? Did you survive, or are you looking at your pockets like WTH!!!

I hope you planned this holiday out so you can embrace the new year with ease. So now let’s discuss what the new year involves:

Reflecting on the past year, decluttering your space (physical & digital), setting meaningful but manageable goals, prioritizing rest and self-care, and establishing new healthy habits to create clarity, focus, and a positive foundation for the year ahead, often using tools like planners or vision boards for visualization and planning.

Reflect & Intend

  • Review the past year: Acknowledge accomplishments, learn from missteps, and note what brought joy.
  • Define your word/intentions: Choose a single word or theme for the year (e.g., consistent, growth, calm).
  • Set goals: Create a short, specific, and realistic list of goals (SMART goals are helpful) or a fun bucket list. I’m already cultivating my list and super excited about it.
  • Visualize: Use a vision board or journal to visually represent your aspirations. I know the trend lately has been that vision board didn’t work, but in reality nothing will work if you don’t seek out what’s best for your motivation. These are ideas hopefully something will connect to what’s best for you.

Organize & Declutter

  • Physical space: Tidy your home, workspace, and put away holiday decor to start fresh. This is a big one for me. My space is my sanctuary especially because I work from home, so I want spaces in my home that are just for me, but also where I’m most productive.
  • Digital space: Clean up your inbox, organize files, and update software. I had to admit but my emails are at capacity I will definitely clean those spaces up.
  • Finances: Set up systems for bills, receipts, and budgeting.

Cultivate Well-being

  • Prioritize rest: Allow for downtime and relaxation to recharge before the year begins.
  • Start healthy habits: Introduce small changes in exercise, nutrition, or sleep.
  • Mindfulness: Practice meditation or journaling to foster mental clarity.

Plan Your Year

  • Get a planner: Start using a new journal or planner to map out important dates and goals.
  • Schedule major events: Block out known commitments (birthdays, holidays) to see what’s realistic.
  • Tackle small tasks: Finish up lingering small tasks from the previous year.

If it’s one things that has resonated with you please share how it will help you accomplish your goals in the new year.
